Information Technology & Data Management > Activities IT & Data Management Topic leader: Laurence Field (CERN) - The importance of experimental data for modern science is growing daily, and new initiatives are required to cope with the resulting “data deluge”. The rapid development and increasing complexity of experimental techniques, instruments and detectors requires developments beyond the current state-of-the-art. To fully justify the huge investments made in scientific instruments, the data produced by these instruments must be securely and efficiently stored, archived, annotated, queried, and linked. A number of concrete examples can be easily identified.
These examples show how a common IT platform for the storage, discovery, access, and processing of data can improve the current status of research in Europe. The needs of common interest to all the CRISP partners are addressed with the development and prototype deployment of solutions for IT and Data Management under the following actions: |
